With this new series of graphite drawings I hope to show the relativity of straight lines.
Even thought there is not a single straight line in a human body, the drawings of male figure in this series are created by applying only straight lines.
All beautiful shapes of the human body are curved, fluid, when one shape extends the roundness of another shape. And still, in academic painting and drawing technique we do use straight lines to create rounded forms of the body.
This small drawing is a clear example of the fact that there is nothing straight in the human body and in the male figure in particular. Artistically speaking.
An original artwork by Dimitri Ross, a visual artist based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
