Florence. Museo degli Innocenti. A very rich exhibition of works by Alphonse Mucha, a Czech artist of Art Nouveau (end of 19th cent - beginning of 20th).
Posters, theater playbills, lithographs, some drawings. Women, women, women. Elegant elongated body forms, his signature circles of hair curls. Lots of very Slavic details. Very playful but also very deep, with lots of symbolism and political overtones. And of course his poster from 1922 about the starving Russian children shocked me and brought me back from his world of theatrical fantasy to our upside-down reality
