As an artist of academic style, I tend to remain in control of everything happening on my canvas. And just recently I discovered an absolutely new feeling. The name of this very poetic feeling is Vers-libre, or blank verse.
Honestly, what I'm doing on canvas right now feels unusual for an artist of the academic style. Very unusual. Like going in the unknown. But it sure feels very summery, too!
I am starting to like the feeling of going with the flow. When you follow your brush.
When maybe for a moment you let go the rules of academic painting and let yourself loose.
When your inner self of the moment becomes visible on canvas.
When suddenly you are surprized to see how the canvas changes, and it's oh so very liberating.
It's like poetry without obvious rhiming. It's the blank verse and vers-libre of painting.
